National Register of
Historical Places

In 2002, People's Petroleum Building was entered into the National Register of Historical Places, the official national list created by the Natonal Historic Preservaton Act of 1966. This national registry includes districts, sites, building, structures and objects that are deemed worthy of preservation due to their history, architecture, archeology, engineering and cultural significance.

City of Tyler Historic Landmark

In 2012 The People's Petroleum Building was designated as a Tyler Historic Landmark, the city's oldest and best-known preservation program. Initiated in 1983, this preservation effort seeks to protect structures or properties that have cultural, economic, or social value to the City of Tyler, State of Texas, or the United States.
